Sleep Apnea & Snoring Treatment in Aurora, CO
A custom oral appliance worn only during sleep, fitted like a retainer, to help keep your airway open, a comfortable option for snoring and obstructive sleep apnea when CPAP isn't the right fit.
What is oral appliance therapy?
An oral appliance is a small, custom-made device that fits over your teeth much like a retainer or mouthguard. Worn only while you sleep, it gently holds your lower jaw in a slightly forward position, helping keep your airway open so air can move freely through the night.
How it works
During sleep, the muscles in your throat can relax enough for soft tissue to collapse and block your airway, causing snoring or, in more significant cases, repeated pauses in breathing. By repositioning your jaw slightly forward, an oral appliance creates more space behind your tongue and soft palate, reducing airway collapse without a mask, hose, or machine.
Comfortable, custom fit
Molded to your bite and worn like a retainer, your appliance is compact and quiet, with no mask, straps, or machine noise.
A recognized alternative
Oral appliance therapy is a well-established option for snoring and mild-to-moderate sleep apnea, and for patients who can't tolerate CPAP.
Easy to travel with
No power source or hardware required, and your appliance fits in a small case, so it's simple to keep up with treatment on the road.
Getting started
If you haven't already been diagnosed, we'll help you arrange a home or in-lab sleep study with a physician to confirm sleep apnea before treatment begins. Once we have a diagnosis, we take precise impressions and design your custom appliance, then fine-tune the fit over a few follow-up visits to make sure it's comfortable and effective.
Symptoms
Common signs of sleep apnea
- Loud, frequent snoring
- Gasping or choking sounds during sleep
- Waking up with a dry mouth or sore throat
- Morning headaches
- Excessive daytime sleepiness or fatigue
- Difficulty concentrating during the day
Why It Matters
The risks of leaving sleep apnea untreated
Heart & blood pressure
Repeated drops in oxygen during sleep make your heart and blood vessels work harder, which is linked to higher blood pressure and added cardiovascular strain over time.
Daytime energy & safety
Poor sleep quality leads to daytime fatigue that can affect concentration, mood, and reaction time, including behind the wheel.
Better sleep for both of you
Treating snoring and sleep apnea often means fewer nighttime interruptions for you and anyone sharing your bed.
